What’s the Best Way to Fish the Lake of the Ozarks?
While you can certainly rent one of our boats and set off on a self-guided fishing trip, the best way to fish these waters is with a local guide. This is especially true if you’re a first-time visitor. There are several guides to choose from, including Barber Fishing Guide Service, Jack’s Guide Service, and JGF Guide Service. Most guides will provide all necessary equipment, but we recommend checking to see what is provided when booking your outing. You’ll especially want to ask whether they provide a fishing permit or if you will need to purchase that.
What Other Kinds of Fishing Are Available?
You don’t have to be physically on the water to reel in the catch of the day. You can fish from the shoreline at two access areas at Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Another great option is fishing from our docks. We even have an enclosed fishing dock, which means you can still cast your line on a rainy day!
Sign Up for the Buddy Bass Tournament
Add a bit of competition to your Lake of the Ozarks fishing trip by signing up for the Buddy Bass Tournament. Taking place twice a year, once in March and once in October, these events are a great way to put your skills to the test. Both include separate Big Bass pots and have weigh-ins on Saturday and Sunday. You can sign up online or by filling out a form and mailing it.
